Mechanic's hands working on engine

Our Story

If you fix something,
fix it like you'd do for your own family.

That's not a marketing line. That's what I grew up hearing.

Where It Began

A family built around engines.

My father-in-law spent his life between engines and the open road — a mechanic and a long-distance truck driver. The kind of man who could tell what's wrong with a car just by listening. My brother-in-law followed the same path, built his own brand in the trade back home, became well-known for his work and earned a reputation that speaks for itself.

I always admired that. The skill, the respect people had for them, the honesty in their work. But life had a different route planned for me.

A New Beginning

The UK gave me a chance.

I came to the United Kingdom with my family, looking for a fresh start. And this country gave me exactly that — a chance to grow, to learn, to build something real. I started in production, moved into logistics, and eventually into management — each step teaching me something different about how things work, how to lead, and how to solve problems properly.

Then I decided to go back to university. I studied Business Management with Entrepreneurship at the University of West London, because I wanted to understand not just how to run a business, but how to build one that lasts. Something I'm genuinely proud of.

But through all of it, one thing never left my mind: the garage. The smell of engine oil, the satisfaction of fixing something properly, the trust people place in you when they hand over their car.

The Dream

From ambition to action.

So I made the decision. I had my mechanical qualifications recognised and finalised through IMI as a Light Vehicle Inspection Technician. I then completed and passed my MOT Tester course and MOT Manager certification — essential steps towards reaching my goal.

After years of preparation, I established M&M'S Recovery LTD and started building my own MOT station right here in Scunthorpe. Not because it was easy — but because it was always the dream.

Matei Motors is my way of giving back to the community that gave me a chance. Everything I learned from my family, everything the UK taught me about business and people — I'm putting it all into this garage. Honest work, fair treatment, and the kind of care you'd expect from someone who genuinely loves what they do.

The Future

Built to last generations.

But this isn't just about me. I want Matei Motors to be the beginning of something bigger — a family business that my children will grow into and carry forward. The same way I learned from my father-in-law, I want them to learn from me. This is the first chapter of a multi-generational story, and we're just getting started.

We're not a chain. We're not a franchise. We're a family building something that's meant to last.
